PLANNING

BCS brings together industry-leading technical experience for the Wood Products and Manufacturing industries. We offer our clients in-depth industry planning expertise and innovative solutions. We are committed to successfully delivering projects on schedule, on budget. We are fully committed to our client’s needs through every project phase, regardless of the project nature and scope.

STRATEGY

Our experts focus on leading towards a collaborative problem-solving and innovative strategy, assisting in development of processes to capture and drive innovative product development. Let us help you leapfrog your competition by developing the necessary strategy and processes to deliver both quality products and processes to support your goals.

SOLID WOOD FLOORING

The original material used for flooring. High value and high quality. The floor that every other wood, vinyl, and ceramic product strives to emulate. But, unfortunately, so many things can go wrong for both the user and the manufacturer of solid wood flooring products.

Because wood and water have a love/hate relationship, problems often arise. We can help the manufacturer by providing expertise in drying, processing, product design, and troubleshooting. BCS also has an NWFA certified inspector for issues that arise during and after installation.

RESILIENT FLOORING

Vinyl flooring products have dominated commercial environments for decades due to their durability, maintainability, and robust performance.

Our experts have experience in the performance, design, and installation of these legacy products. Today, in a world of “hybridization,” we see trends of combining traditional resilient products with wood or other materials to create superior performing products.

BCS designs around the known pitfalls of these products to provide your company with a competitive advantage.

ENGINEERED WOOD FLOORING

Engineered wood flooring is the most stable wood flooring product on the market today. For that reason, this product structure dominates the wood flooring marketplace.

From sawn face products to sliced and rotary veneer products, BCS experts have designed and launched them all. We have several decades of product development focused exclusively on this family of structures. The result of this work has delivered several billion dollars of new product sales on innovative, engineered wood flooring.

We know the in’s and out’s of designing, testing, manufacturing, installing and troubleshooting engineered wood flooring products.

LUMBER DRYING AND PROCESSING

BCS’s Principal, Dr. Brian Beakler, earned his graduate degrees while executing projects which focused on hardwood lumber drying. As a result, Dr. Beakler has ample time designing and modifying hardwood dry kiln schedules to reduce cycle times (improving efficiency) while enhancing lumber quality.

Our experts are available to remedy any drying issue from the yard through the dry storage facility. In addition, we offer design-build systems with quality processes to control and improve your drying and lumber storage processes. BCS knows that robust, well-executed lumber drying practices are required to produce any high-quality solid wood product.

WOOD SCIENCE

Wood products are an integral part of our everyday life; from framing, trim, and hardwood floors in your home to furniture in your office, wood fiber is used everywhere.

Many times, when a failure occurs with one of these products, it is imperative to find someone to answer your questions down to the cellular level of wood. Beakler Consulting Services (BCS) team has significant experience and training in wood anatomy, wood identification, and wood mechanical properties. We are prepared to partner with you to resolve these issues.

BCS experts stay abreast of the latest advances in the following areas, structural/chemical composition, chemical characterization of wood, wood composites, physical, mechanical, and microbiological degradation of wood and wood-based products. Our goal is to understand the current state of wood science to help resolve issues and develop new wood products.

Our team has a true passion for understanding the latest trends and identifying emerging technologies, inspiring our product development, keeping us relevant and viable in today’s rapidly changing environment.

BCS will accommodate custom training programs for your organization. Examples of topics for these training programs include the basics of wood, wood/moisture relationships, adhesives, and wood identification.

BCS also provides wood identification and performance testing services. Contact us for additional information, 717-449-6898.
