Process Improvement and Resilient Flooring Specialist
Lynn graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry from The College of the Holy Cross. Subsequent, she began her career at Armstrong World Industries and recently retired from there after 38 years of service. During that time, she held a variety of roles, ranging from technical to marketing. She also achieved certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt, holds three patents and was the recipient of two Armstrong Innovation Awards.
Her technically focused roles included Senior Manager of New Product Development Technology, Operations Development Chemist, Technical Project Manager and a number of research positions in both exploratory and applied product development, focused on resilient flooring and suspended ceilings.
In her most recent role as Sr. Manager of NPD Technology, her team developed and launched over 80 new products into multiple market channels. In addition, they increased manufacturing efficiencies by identifying and solving a number of product quality issues and led several operations productivity initiatives, which led to significant reductions in scrap and product claims. Lynn also led and implemented six process improvement initiatives based on Six Sigma and ISO best practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the new product development process utilized by Armstrong.
Earlier in her career, Lynn was the Manager of Installation and Technical Services for Armstrong flooring. Her team of R&D scientists and Installation Training Specialists was responsible for developing and qualifying new flooring installation systems as well as creating installation instructions, training installers throughout North America, supporting new product launches, and assisting with installation-related claims in the field.
Lynn spent many years on the marketing side of the business, holding positions in Market Research, Marketing and Product Management. During this time, she was a key member of the team that commissioned and executed the market research that resulted in the launch of one of Armstrong Flooring’s most significant family of products – ToughGuard vinyl sheet flooring. In addition, she led the team that developed, and substantiated with data, the marketing claims for these products, based on the customer needs for durability identified in the market research.
Lynn’s skillset as a data-driven, fact-based problem solver has served her well in her many roles throughout her career. She has a strong background in process development and process improvement which she honed during her years as a Black Belt in Armstrong’s Flooring and Corporate Process Improvement teams.
