Dr. Sunil Ramachandra
Test Development and Design Specialist
After graduation, he joined Armstrong World Industries in new product research and development. Innovation and creative problem-solving have been the driving force in Dr. Ramachandra’s life and career. He enjoys dismantling things to analyze the limits of performance and then redesigning the object to make it perform up to expectations. He has been awarded nine patents for his work along with ten published patent applications. He has Six Sigma green belt certification and has completed the Shaping Innovation Leaders course in Executive Management at the Kellogg School of Management.
Dr. Ramachandra has held several roles of increasing responsibility in product development and innovation during his 20 years in the Armstrong flooring business and at Fenner Drives. He managed the Innovation group at Armstrong Flooring Inc. for two years and the New Product Development group at Fenner Drives for over two years prior.
Dr. Ramachandra’s recent achievements include saving $1M in creating a predictive analysis tool for developing a set of new wood flooring structures with zero capital expenditure at Armstrong Flooring and managing the new product pipeline generating over $2M at Fenner Drives. He has also created marketing demos for new products that have generated over $100M in sales over the years.

Dr. Ramachandra has extensive experience working with a wide range of diverse technologies, including advanced computational modeling and analysis of physical systems through test development, statistical analysis, electromechanical device development to new technologies such as 3D printing and motion control using inexpensive micro-controllers.
Dr. Ramachandra excels in technology development projects that require him to innovatively. For example, Dr. Ramachandra was recently asked to work on a project to automate manual flooring installation, He identifiying a technology partner and worked closely with them to creatively developing a low-cost robot.
